Myanmar is a country stricken by violence.
As a result of 69 years of civil war, it stays as one of the least developed countries in the world. Its education and healthcare infrastructure is almost non-existent and its people are growing poorer every day. Children of these poor families, along with orphans of the war, are sent to local charities like orphanages or monastic education centers. They are raised separately from their parents and a lot of them aren’t able to go back. 50% of the children under five are living below poverty line and 30% are suffering from severe malnutrition.
These all mean that Myanmar is losing its future to this endless downward spiral.
At Mudita association, we believe prosperity comes through peace and understanding and these virtues need to be adopted at an early age.
The plan is to build a kindergarten based on the famously effective Waldorf teaching method. It will not only serve as a kindergarten, but rather a self-sufficient complex with classrooms, an organic farm, accommodation for volunteers and resident teachers, a playground, a computer learning room, a meditation hall and an office building.
The kindergarten complex, adjacent to a communal care centre, will provide exemplary education as well as health care, food and shelter to these poor children.
Mudita association has recieved a 12.5 acre land donation near the shores of the beautiful Inle Lake. The association also recruited local teachers and funded them for a year-long teacher training program.
The association needs $84.000 (€71.000) to build the first phase of the complex, which will include all necessary buildings to get it started. The project is also being supported by the local community, so the cost goes down to just a fraction of what it would be in any modern country.
To raise this amount, we've launched a crowdfunding campaign on FUNDRZR, one of the most loved and trusted fundraising platforms on the web. There are also a variety of cool gifts to those who are a little bit more generous!
